Job Summary

The Paraprofessional will work under the direct supervision of a classroom teacher to provide individualized and small-group support to students. This role requires a strong commitment to student success, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively within a team.

Responsibilities

  • Classroom Support: Assist the teacher with various classroom tasks, including preparing materials, setting up learning centers, and maintaining a clean and organized classroom.
  • Student Support: Provide individualized or small-group instruction to students, reinforcing classroom concepts and providing additional assistance as needed. This may include tutoring, mentoring, and behavior management support.
  • Individualized Education Program (IEP) Support: Assist in the implementation of IEPs for students with disabilities, following established procedures and collaborating with the special education team. This might include data collection, progress monitoring, and direct instruction.
  • Student Supervision: Supervise students during transitions, lunch, recess, and other activities, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Communication: Maintain open and effective communication with the teacher, students, parents, and other school staff.
  • Collaboration: Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Administrative Tasks: Perform various administrative tasks as assigned by the teacher, such as photocopying materials, organizing student work, and maintaining accurate records.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Experience working with children, preferably in an educational setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
